We use many materials
in our furniture including solid Pine, hardwoods
including Beech, Maple, Mahogany, Oak etc, multi
core Birch plywood and occasionally veneered MDF.
Solid wood is a natural product and as such will
change over time. In particular the moisture content
in natural timbers will vary over time, this can
cause warping and twisting, problems which can't
be completely eliminated by anybody in any way.
MDF and plywood are manmade materials and can be
stronger and more stable than natural wood. Real
wood veneered MDF or plywood are commonly used in
fitted furniture because they strike the best balance
between cost, functionality and appearance. We select
superior quality hardware for all our projects to
ensure they will stand the test of time. Hinges,
knobs and drawer runners etc are very important
and contribute greatly to the quality feel of our
furniture and kitchens. We have developed relationships
with specialist suppliers for everything from glass
and mirrors to electric TV lifting platforms. This
ensures that EC Cabinets can offer the greatest
level of choice to our clients. |
All of our custom
made furniture and pine kitchens are manufactured
and spray finished in our facility in Roundwood,
Co. Wicklow, Ireland. Our skilled cabinet makers
produce the furniture designs expertly using industrial
equipment, taking advantage of modern materials
and techniques where appropriate. When the cabinets
are built they will be finished in the customers
preferred colours, usually sprayed or hand painted.
